Partnership for a Better San Diego

Labor & Community in Solidarity

Our Mission

PBSD’s mission is two-fold:

1) Combat food insecurity in San Diego & Imperial Counties and

2) Help foster economic stability for individuals, the community and the local hospitality sector and build the labor movement in San Diego County. We will do this by providing training and development opportunities for underserved populations, which will improve access to good union jobs within the hospitality industry.

Our History

Originally founded to help union workers in times of economic need, the Partnership expanded its operations to the community at large in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Volunteers & staff were deployed by the Labor Council and local unions to establish a drive-up food pantry in City Heights & Imperial Valley, as well as a nationally recognized weekly drive-through food distribution serving thousands of families in need.
